Rise In STEM is seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Marketing & Program Coordinator (Co-op Student) to support the delivery and growth of our youth programs, including STEM Athletics. This role blends marketing, communications, and program coordination, offering hands-on experience in social impact storytelling, community engagement, and program operations.
This placement is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or social innovation, who also enjoy working in dynamic, community-based environments.
This role is adaptable based on the student’s interests and co-op requirements.
About Rise In STEM
Rise In STEM is a Toronto-based, grassroots organization working to level the playing field for Black and underserved youth by breaking down systemic barriers to higher education and STEM careers. We design culturally responsive programming that integrates STEM, athletics, wellness, and leadership development.
The Position
Marketing & Communications (Primary Focus)
Support content creation for social media, newsletters, reports, and presentations
Capture photos, videos, and stories during programs and events
Assist with updating marketing materials, Canva templates, and program assets
Help track engagement metrics and organize content for reporting and evaluation
Program Support
Assist with program logistics (materials, attendance tracking, scheduling support)
Support in-person sessions by helping facilitate group activities when needed
Provide on-site support to ensure programs run smoothly and youth feel supported
This is a hands-on learning opportunity to gain experience at the intersection of marketing, youth programming, and community engagement. Students will build practical skills in:
Social impact marketing & storytelling
Program coordination & facilitation
Working with youth and community partners
Understanding equity-driven, community-based work
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a student who is:
Interested in marketing, communications, or nonprofit/social impact work
Organized, proactive, and comfortable juggling multiple tasks
Strong communicators with an eye for storytelling and detail
Comfortable working with youth in group settings
Aligned with values of equity, community engagement, and youth empowerment
Commitment
4 month placement from January - April 2026
Two in-person sessions on a weekly basis
15-20 hours/week of work (more hours may be provided as needed)
Honorarium and transportation supports will also be provided
