STEM Athletics

Participants engage in skill-building activities, creative challenges, and career exploration designed to connect sport with real-world STEM pathways. Explore how STEM shows up in sport, movement, and performance.

Big Ideas, Real Impact.

Every event we host is designed with intention, from the atmosphere we create to the way each session flows.

STEM Athletics introduces young people to the intersection of sports and STEM through interactive, hands-on learning.

Using athletics as a foundation, the program builds confidence, teamwork, and curiosity while exploring how science, technology, engineering, and innovation shape sports and athletic performance.

Program Legacy

TEM Athletics has evolved through multiple program cycles, each exploring different intersections of sport and STEM:

  • Youth collaborated with peers and mentors at York University to explore data-driven solutions in sports technology and performance. The experience included visiting MLSE Digital Labs and engaging with innovation in professional sports environments.

  • Participants developed athletic and engineering skills through volleyball training and a hands-on challenge building a volleyball launcher using STEM principles. Guest coaches included professional volleyball athletes.

  • Our inaugural full-day experience introduced youth to STEM in sport through workshops in coding, digital innovation, and teamwork, in partnership with MLSE LaunchPad and community collaborators.

  • We created new scholarship opportunities for students involved in our STEM Athletics initiatives. A total of $4,000 in scholarships was awarded, including two $1,000 Excellence Scholarships and four $500 awards recognizing outstanding academic and athletic achievement. These scholarships celebrate students who excel both in the classroom and on the field. We are honoured to give back to our community in this way and look forward to expanding our financial support for students’ education in the year ahead.
